Mark is made up of attractive pages from the chapter on New England in the old guide book The United States Baedeker's Handbook for Travelers from 1899. We found this classic guide book in an antiquarian bookshop, and the chapter on New England has been turned into a wallpaper design that harks back to the old method of wallpapering using newspaper and book pages. Mark is printed using an engraving technique and we have taken great care to maintain the beautiful patina displayed by the old pages of the guide book. It is named after Mark Twain, who wrote about the adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, among other publications. He also wrote various travel narratives (1835-1910).
