Description

The panoramic wallpaper “Onze cygnes sauvages” is obviously inspired by Andersen's famous tale The Wild Swans. The eleven crowned white birds fly here with absolute lightness thanks to a play of transparency with the background’s subtle gradation of blue-green. Mountains, forest and sea slightly appear. Soothing, poetic, dreamlike and refined, this soft and contemporary gouache painted wallpaper would be perfect in a child's room. “Onze Cygnes Sauvages” wall mural also exists in old pink.

The tale “The Wild Swans” was written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1838, inspired by a traditional Danish tale by Matthias Winther published in 1823. Elisa and her eleven brothers lived happily with their father until the day he married an obnoxious woman. She sends Elisa to farmers and turns her brothers into swans. But their sister manages to find them and flies with them every day. To save them, she has to realise eleven nettle coats, without pronouncing one word. She remains silent until the end, despite the accusations of witchcraft against her.. Sentenced to die at the stake, her brothers finally deliver her. Elisa, always covered with her eleven nettle cloaks, throws them on the swans, delivering her brothers.

Extract : ""At dawn, the air was pure and calm, as soon as the sun rose, the swans flew away with Elisa. The sea was still strong and when they were high in the air, the white foam on the dark green waves seemed like millions of swans swimming (...). ""They were flying so high that the first sailboat that appeared below them seemed like a seagull on the water. A great cloud passed behind them, a real mountain on which Elisa saw the shadow of herself and her eleven brothers in a gigantic image, they formed a picture more grandiose than she had ever seen.
